Photodynamic therapy is a procedure that uses a combination our intense pulse light (IPL) and a chemical called levulan to treat acne and precancerous spots. The IPL used to treat precancerous spots (AKs) is covered by most insurance companies if you have a history of multiple AK’s or skin cancer. Photodynamic Therapy is also used to improve and possibly cure acne that did not respond to standard acne therapy. Photodynamic Therapy has little down time and no long term side affects. After this treatment a person can expect to have redness, swelling, cracking and peeling of the skin. This treatment is usually compared to a strong chemical peel. This service is performed by our aesthetician Sara Chrisman.
