Sun Protection

Sun Protection is the key to prevent getting a skin cancer. You can still have fun and enjoy being outdoors in the sun just have to follow these tips.

1. Apply and reapply Sunscreen: You will want to apply sunscreen of SPF 30+ to all exposed skin areas 30min before being Outdoors. Make sure you choose a broad-spectrum Sunscreen that covers both UVA and UVB rays. You will Want to reapply your sun screen every two hours, after Swimming or sweating, even on cloudy days.

2. Clothing: You will want to ware clothes that give coverage to your Such as long sleeved shirts, long pants, hats with a wide- Brim and sunglasses. If you have really fair skin then you Can also buy clothing with SPF in it.

3. Shade: If you are enjoying the outdoors seek shade whenever Possible. The sun is the hottest between the hours of 10 am – 4 pm.

4. Reflections: Take care when standing around water, sand, or snow because the reflections from the sun off of theses things can cause a very strong burn.

5. NO TANNING BEDS: The ultraviolet light you receive from a Tanning bed is the same rays you get from the sun. These Rays cause skin cancer and wrinkling. Self-tanners are safe And still give you the sun tan look.

Sun protection applies both to children and adults. Please check your skin monthly for any new or changing lesions and if you find anything your concerned about call your Dermatologist right away
