Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)

Squamous Cell Carcinomas are the second most common type of skin cancer. They also can be found in all sun exposed areas but usually are found on the rim of the ear, face, lips, and hands. Squamous Cells normally appear as small scaly red patches but can grow bigger and make more problems the longer you have them. Unlike Basal Cells the Squamous Cells can metastasize (spread) if left untreated. Squamous Cells are treated in the same ways we treat Basal Cells. We determine the best treatment based on size, severity, and location of the cancer. Again the early we find the cancer the easer they are to treat.
